My message to the Citizens of Limassol Province:
The citizens should be at the core of policy-making processes. I would therefore, like to invite you to an open dialogue with the aim to inform you on the goals and objectives of the reform of the local government and more specifically, on the role of the Provincial Self-Government Organization of Limassol.
I would like to share with you my vision and ideas, on how this new entity should be structured and function to achieve its objectives and to listen to your views, concerns, suggestions and expectations.
My intention is to contribute to the development of the entire Limassol Province, creating the conditions that our citizens will enjoy quality services, based on the following characteristics and overarching principles: Smart – Efficient – Green – Fair – Transparent.

About the Provincial Self-Government Organizations:
Based on the legislation adopted by the House of Representatives in 2022, the widespread local government reform will be implemented in July 2024. The reform foresees the establishment of 5 Provincial Self-Government Organizations, one in each province.
The Organization will be responsible of major services in relation to the infrastructure and development of the province:
- Licensing of development (Issuance of Planning and Building Permits)
- Water Supply
- Drainage (Sewage and Rainwater)
- Exploitation and Management of Solid Waste
The President of the Provincial Self-Government Organization is elected through an electoral process and will chair the Organization’s Council which will be composed with 16 members representing the Municipal and Community Councils. All registered voters of the province are eligible to vote in the elections scheduled to take place together with the European elections on the 9th of June 2024.
